There is a genre of traditional art from Ghana that is a wonderful source of material for henna; adinkra patterns and Akan gold weight patterns.   These patterns represent Akan proverbs, and they are ancient, classy, and very simple. If you ever wanted to have a beautiful and meaningful  collection of $1 to $5 patterns, this would be your design source!

You can get a posters of adinkra and gold weight patterns from Sankofa Edu-Cultural Publications, 2211 Amherst Road, Hyttsville Maryland, 20783, or call 877-767-4430, or email oansa@aol.com . (Put together by Dr. Kwaku Ofari-Ansa, Howard University....its the best  collection of these I've ever seen.) The posters of Adinkra and Akan gold weights have their meaning have about 100 patterns on the poster.  (I remember the posters were less than $10 each, but I don't remember exactly how much).
